In the 1970’s, Curtis Mayfield was super fly. Today, Cedric Mayfield is working on A Super Fly Redemption. Curtis sang the blues. For most of his life, Cedric has lived the blues. Though they are connected by a famous family name, the two have remained severely disconnected through bloodline rejection and vicious cycles of family shame. Until now. Maybe.

In the past, Cedric’s been homeless, helpless and hopeless. Today he has the money, the musicians, the memoir and the momentum to move mountains. But does he have the Mayfield magic to make it happen? Or is this just a cruel cosmic setup for a catastrophic, karmic collapse? Will Cedric be redeemed on stage under bright lights or will he be rejected and returned to the streets again?

(The Philadelphia Drop song conceived by Ulysses "Butch" Slaughter)

While developing the storyline for his documentary "A Super Fly Redemption," Ulysses was struck by an idea that will become a Philadelphia classic soon. He conceived of a song that blended Curtis Mayfield's classic "Gimme Your Love" with the Philadelphia slogan "Brotherly Love." He explained the idea to Cedric Mayfield and within hours a hit was born. Check out a draft of the music video.
